Therapeutic Approach
Dr. Coria-Macias' therapeutic approach represents an influence from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment Theory, and Relational Therapy. This means she utilizes CBT based interventions to help individuals break away from anxious and depressive styles of thinking. She acknowledges and explores how an individual's attachment and bond with their primary care givers serve as the blueprint for every relationship in their lives. Relational therapy will guide the improving of relationships to better the health of the individual. Working on relationships will include learning how to set healthy boundaries, identifying and examining one's relational style and how that impacts relationships, and working towards achieving balance in relationships.

Dr. Coria-Macias provides therapy for adults 18 and older and conducts psychological evaluations for children aged 6 and older, adolescents, and adults. Dr. Coria-Macias believes entering into therapy is the best gift an individual can give themselves. She believes every individual can benefit from therapy at some point in his or her life. Dr. Coria-Macias believes every client is the expert on themselves and will work with each individual to identify and accomplish their treatment goals.

Dr. Coria-Macias lives by the philosophy that we walk around in life collecting our experiences, both positive and painful ones, and we put them in our imaginary backpacks. Sometimes, our “backpacks” can become heavy, unbearable and can no longer carry them by ourselves. As a therapist, Dr. Coria-Macias help individuals “unload their backpacks”, feel less burdened and overwhelmed, and will help serve as the GPS-highlighting the various pathways an individual can take to meet their therapy goals. Dr. Coria-Macias works with individuals to help them make changes that will move them closer to feeling better and living the life they desire and deserve.
